20 Years Experience At School

Where were you born?

I was born in Cincinnati, OH, and grew up in Indianapolis, IN, (with a couple of years in Grand Rapids, MI).

What is your educational background?

I graduated from Purdue University.  Boiler Up!

What is your philosophy of Christian education?

At TKA, Christian education is a partnership between the parents and the school, so that church-life is all of life.  At home, at church and at school, the students learn that all mankind is worthy of God’s wrath because of sin and that salvation is available only through faith in Jesus Christ, by grace.  The students are loved at TKA as an extension of the love we have received from God; He loved us first! (1 John 4:19)  That love is evidenced in the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) witnessed in the lives of the faculty and staff, a love that includes grace and truth.  At TKA the Bible is seen as the living, foundational Word of God and is useful for all areas of life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17).  As a school with God as our head (The KING’S Academy), we are tasked to join arms (John 17:23) to produce academic, social and physical excellence through a program where minds and hearts are coming fully alive in Christ!

What is your favorite thing about TKA?

A few of my favorite things are the love the faculty and staff have for the students and their families, the opportunity for students to grow up knowing the saving grace of Christ and witnessing followers of Christ live out their faith, the sharing of life with this community of believers and the ability to live out and grow in my faith here.

What is something fun or interesting about you?

Tim and I have been married for 33 years and have four adult children (ages 22-30). They have all graduated from TKA!  We are very thankful the Lord brought us to Florence 18 years ago, and that He provided for us to send our children to school here.   The teachers beautifully taught, cared for, and prayed for each of my children as they grew into young adults.  They were well-prepared for college academically and had witnessed many believers live out their faith before them.  They experienced Christian community and service which God used as a foundation to prepare them to continue their faith journey as young adults.
