Where were you born?

I was born on Ft. Carson military base in Carson, Colorado.  My dad was in the army, so we moved about every two to three years. Some of my favorite places we lived were Kitzigen, Germany, Davenport, Iowa, and Green Bay Wisconsin, Go Packers!

What is your educational background?

I graduated high school from Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge, Virginia, and I graduated from Radford University, a liberal arts college in Radford, Virginia.

What is your philosophy of Christian education?

I believe all children are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)  I believe each child is a unique and valuable individual created by God in His own image for His purpose.  The youngest child can praise and glorify our Creator. It is my calling as a Christian educator to encourage and direct my students to a better understanding of who our Creator is.  I believe we are all sinners who need a Savior and God values us as His children. God loves all children and wants a personal relationship with each one of us.

What is your favorite thing about TKA?

There are so many things I love about The King’s Academy. The one thing I love most is the opportunities our students have to love and serve the Lord; from our 4K students collecting cans and delivering to The Lord Cares food bank in Darlington, to our high school students serving others all around the world.  Many of our older students have been the hands and feet of Jesus in faraway places like Tanzania, Africa, Bihar, India and Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

What is something fun or interesting about you?

When I was growing up, my dad was in the military. We moved every few years, so I have lived in some really great places. My mom always made sure we traveled to new and exciting areas when we moved to a new place.  I have been to several European countries including Germany, Switzerland, Spain, France, Italy, and Poland. Before the Berlin wall was torn down in 1991, we often traveled to East Germany on the night train from West Germany. I will always be grateful for the opportunities I was given as an “Army Brat”.
