Where were you born?

What is your philosophy of Christian education?

Jesus said: "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free" (John 8:31-32). The Biblical worldview is to know truth which is found in Jesus’ teachings that leads to knowledge and obedience.
For those who do choose a Christian education, the classroom teacher must be willing to approach academia from a Biblical worldview. Wisdom, integrity, creativity, the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 6:22-23), sacrifice, listening to the Father, being filled and led by the Spirit are characteristics of Christ that should be found in the classroom teacher. My goal as an educator is to encourage a desire for loving to learn. A love for learning will carry an individual beyond the walls of a classroom to engage their skills to impact a culture, community, workplace and most importantly the Kingdom of God. Everyone is wired creatively by God. Being so, this results in diversity of strengths and talents that need to be steered for success. Also deficit areas are to be challenged to maturity in order to compliment areas of strength. Students are to be held accountable for their actions. Administration is to work along and support the teacher. Therefore, discipline should not be done in anger but in love so that security is created through consistency.
Establishing a love for learning, striving to understand the student, developing strategies and methods, pursuing intentional communication with teachers and parents, and radiating empathy are important professional standards that I can strive to accomplish. These standards require a team effort for the vitality and success of the student. Therefore, on behalf of the student, I will implement these standards so the possibility of success will become an increasing reality instead of taunting dream. With God’s help in serving others as an educational therapist, I can be a tool to help students experience freedom as independent learners in a Christian educational setting.

What is your favorite thing about TKA?

Besides meeting my wife and seeing my family each day, I appreciate that the whole person is challenged to grow and that all students have the opportunity to be part of community that helps them grow in the way that God has designed them.
