Where were you born?

I am from Pamplico, SC, but moved last year after marrying my husband, Jordan. We now live in Florence with our cat, Ember.

What is your educational background?

I am a graduate of Hannah-Pamplico High School. I earned an Associate of Arts degree from Florence-Darlington Technical College and I hold a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Art Education from Francis Marion University. I hope to pursue a Master’s degree soon.

What is your philosophy of Christian education?

Creation, as defined by Webster’s Dictionary, is the “action or process of bringing something into existence” and is mentioned in most translations of the Bible within the opening sentence in Genesis, as God created the heavens and the earth. It can be argued that creation is essential for existence: for without it, nothing would exist.

Creation through artistic expression has been something I have loved to do since I was small. I fell in love with how I could express emotion, convey my feelings, and show the world who I was without having to utter a word.

Art gives students a gateway to self-expression that should be fostered, and artistic talent is a gift from God that should be refined and used to bring Him the utmost glory. Being an arts educator allows me to have the privilege of walking alongside students on their journey of discovering their potential as an artist and thriving member of the body of Christ.

What a blessing to teach a subject that allows students to discover their artistic gifts and to see them use those gifts to bring Him glory!

What is your favorite thing about TKA?

At TKA, there’s no faculty – only family!

What is something fun or interesting about you?

I’m an avid crocheter! I often keep a hook and yarn in my purse, just in case.
