TKA Students attended the Youth in Government Conference in Columbia, SC in December 2006.

YIG

Students attending the 2006 YMCA Youth in Government Conference were Seniors Corrie Bates and Hillary Melton, Juniors were Adam Cameron, Allison Triplett, and Andrew Edmunds. These students served first as Attorneys to the Court of Appeals and/Trial lawyers, then, switched to witnesses for their defense or prosecution side.

Our legislators in Premier Senate were Junior BK Phillips, Sophomore: Heidi Dean, and Freshmen Christian Watts, Donavan Ham and Chandler Isgett. These students submitted bills and debated them with their peers in order to pass them into law.

Seniors Haley Grant and Courtney Amos were part of the media as journalists for the Daily Publication of the YMCA YIG Newspaper.

This year some of our students were honored as they were specially appointed by the Executive Director of YMCA YIG Program Mary Capers Bledsoe. They were Mary Beth Edgerton to serve as Party Leader and Kyle Swearingen to serve as Floor Leader. Congratulations to each of these students and for the entire team on their receiving Premier Delegation. Also a Special Congratulations goes to  Hillary Melton who was chosen for the Brian Capps Scholarship Award on leadership and service.  Special “Thanks” goes to Tari Dean and Matt Terrio for assisting Mrs. Gina Llaneza on the Trip!!!!
