Chapel

TKA uses scripture as the foundation for all chapels.

Chapels are a time of commitment to worship and to the scripture for spiritual and personal growth.  This is where the students are taught to understand that they have a purpose and a destiny in God and also how to live a lifestyle that brings God honor.  Chapels are held once a week for TKA students and students are required to attend as part of their Bible class. They are lead by TKA staff or visiting pastors, missionaries, and other speakers. The upper/middle school worship is student led.

The purpose of the chapels is for worship and spiritual challenge. Students are always encouraged to worship as they are comfortable.

Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend chapels.

2011-2012 Chapel Times are:
Lower School- 8:50 a.m. Tuesday morning in the sanctuary
Middle/Upper School- 10:15 a.m. Wednesday morning in the sanctuary

Bible

TKA's goal is to nurture all students spiritually as they grow to understand and apply Biblical truths within their own lives while establishing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Bible helps set the course of the day at TKA.  Our Bible curriculum covers the Old Testament and the New Testament. Each grade incorporates Bible as part of the curriculum. In keeping with scripture that teaches us to hide God's Word in our hearts that we might not sin against Him, scripture memorization is an important aspect of the training at TKA. Parents are encouraged to review the scripture with their child. The King's Academy uses scripture as the foundation for all Bible classes.

In the 12th grade we have a uniquely designed college level apologetics and comparative world views course to equip our students to enter what is often a hostile environment with confidence and walking in the love of God.

National Day of Prayer- The first Thursday of May the student body of TKA joins our nation in a time of prayer for the nation.

Upper School Retreat- The retreat is held at the beginning of each school year with the purpose of enriching relationships with God and with each other.

Two student perspectives of the retreat:

Look Up Lodge has always been a favorite part of the year for students and the same rang true this year. The theme of the retreat, and for the rest of the year, is coming fully alive in Christ. Mr. Hiltibidal and Pastor Walton taught that we can be alive, but still be lacking in our walks with Christ. Mannequins and mummified students were used as props to drive home the message. Worship times and sharing at the bonfire were also very meaningful for everyone. Students came together as classes as well as entire upper school in games. Activities included: watermelon football, the mud course, Scrabble Frisbee, house on fire, dizzy bat relay. During free time , students could ride the zip line, go on the swing, push each other off the docks, or just sit around and talk. All in all, it was wonderful trip where much was learned. Hopefully everyone will be able to keep up the friendships they made and remember the lessons they learned at Look Up Lodge. Elisabeth Parker(12th grade)

Look Up Lodge was a great way to get to know the high schoolers that I now spend a majority of my time. Without it I would still be going through the awkward new-kid phase. Now I feel like I've known these students for a long time. If this is how our year starts I can't wait to see how it will finish. Luke Manning (new student)
